Pomodoro Time Management Technique

The Pomodoro Technique: Using Your Time Wisely

The pomodoro technique is a strategy to use time wisely,, avoiding distractions and overcoming procrastination.  It's based on the simple idea of alternating periods of focused effort with regular breaks.  To try it out:

  • Choose a task: Pick a single task to focus on.

  • Set a timer: Set a timer for 25 minutes.

  • Work: Focus on your chosen task for the 25 minutes.

  • Take a break: After 25 minutes, take a five-minute break.

  • Repeat: Repeat steps 1–3 four times.

  • Take a longer break: After four cycles, take a longer break of about 15–30 minutes.
