Reminders

WHEN SEARCHING FOR A TOPIC:

  • Remember to use quotation marks for two or more words that you want to keep together
    • "High school" or "climate change"

CHOOSING WHICH SOURCE TO USE:

  • The top four databases in the Home tab are the strongest for most topics
  • ProQuest Central is especially stellar for newspapers

USING NON-DATABASE SOURCES:

  • Google Scholar
  • Ensure validity, credibility, relevance
    • Orgs and Edu are not necessarily the end all, be all anymore
    • Check the "About Us" sections to see what the page/group is all about

IMAGES:

  • Do not just Google!
  • Anytime you use a database, those images are already cleared for use - just make sure to cite them
  • If you need to not use a database, come chat with your friendly librarians on how not to steal media

GENERAL REMINDERS:

  • Remember to pay attention to dates! Unless you need a historical reference, keep it within the last 2-5 years
